Statue of Nornity

The submerged Statue of Nornity in Creatures is a reference to the film The Planet of the Apes.

Photos of the background model as well as Jason Riley's portfolio show that the statue was originally intended to be larger and poke out of the ocean.

A couple notable bugs exist in the vicinity of the Statue, perhaps drawn there by its mystical energies. A Black Hole exists above the Statue's crown, and the egg in the sky will, on occasion, appear high above the Statue, near the moon.

Compare the Shee Statue in Creatures 2.
