SceneMachines was formed in early 2002, and were acquired as a subsidary of Gameware Development in August 2004 (see history). They develop tools for developers to create 3D mobile applications; as of January 2005 there is no known application of these to the Creatures series, although according to the acquisition press release "a mobile version of Creatures [is] high on the priority list".
Products include:
- LivingPicture - use a single digital image to create a lip-synched, animated character in seconds; this character can then be used as an email greeting or talking web page host
- InfiniteScene SDK - develop more sophisticated applications such as avatars linked to text-to-speech engines to create an intelligent web host that can draw information from a database and answer questions or even lead an e-learning course
Known employees at the time of acquisition were General Manager David Hothersall and US Operations Manager Nancy Stolfo-Corti.
