nornina (Also known as Arjay, rj, The Great Nornina, tgn) was a member of the Creatures Community starting in 1999. She was often present in JRChat, although she eventually stopped appearing due to illnessShe also was an occasional visitor to Sine. She was a good programmer and webmaster, and ran the website known as Welcome to The Great Nornia (later known as TGNS) from 98/99 until late 2000 when, for some reason, all of the content disappeared (although the main page and the German sections are still up). She also had subsections - "The Creatures 3 Spaceship" and "Sal's C1 World" - which both are no longer online.

At some stage she switched to co-running Norntropolis to ease the pressures of running her own site by herself and in the background was working on a Creatures RPG set in the city of "Norntropolis". Although the game was never published, her friends are working on restoring/finishing it and one day publishing it to the entire Creatures Community.

I believe she spent a lot of time working on Norntropolis but apparantly the Norntropolis that exists today is not the same as the one she contributed to. In her sketchbook she had an elaborate project for Norntropolis planned, as a birthday present to the sites owner, Erin. I don't know if she ever finished it as I can't find it on her computer and Erin says she didn't know about it, but Jessimo is currently working on getting it back online. If you would like to know details of this secret project, [mailto:jessi_mo88@yahoo.com?subject=Norntropolis email me]email me. If enough people ask, I'll make a wiki page about it (and maybe get some people to help me with it because I'm only a beginner programmer!)

She was the author of many COBs and quite a few breeds, but these were only released to the German community and are extremely difficult to find since her website was reverted to a backed-up version (meaning a lot of new content was lost).

She was the creator of a few COBs and breeds, however since the "reconstruction in progress" of her website was never finished, they do not seem to be available anymore (if you have any please provide a link!)

Arjay had a very serious illness and eventually (as of early 2006) was no longer able to contribute with the Creatures Community. She enjoyed programming and administrated three different MUD and also had a few amateur galleries of various pictures she drew.

Breeds
Although the majority of her "breeds" were genetic-based (and she had a big store of genetically unique norns), she did try her hand at a few graphic-based breeds.

She made two Creatures 1 graphical breeds, one of which had to be renamed several times due to other breeds sharing the name (the breed has been known as crystal/gem/jewel/dragon/pastel/sparkle/whatever norns, eventually being called the "whatever norns"). The other one was never published (a work in progress) and didn't seem to have a name. Jessimo is currently working on finishing this breed.

For Creatures 2 she made the Bumblebee norns, based on the white-haired pixie sprites but with fluffy black limbs, a striped body with semi-transparent wings, and antennae. I believe these norns had some sort of genetic mutation which made them enjoy sunshine and flowers or something (information taken from her sketchbook - if anybody has any "real" information please edit!)

She was also working on the Pharoah norns - with elaborate graphics and a tendency to like heat. I don't believe these were ever published.

Probably the most well-known norns for the English creatures community would be the "Beth Norns" - brightly coloured norns, always happy and made other norns happy by being around them (I think - any more information welcome).

Cobs
Nornina did make quite a few COBs, mostly for personal use, but I think the most complex of them was the "Musical Oriental Garden". I don't have much information about that as I only found out about it through old journal entries.

The RJ stood for Rachel-Jayne. She was chinese, born in Malaysia but moved to New Zealand when she was 7. Although not realised until she was older, she had Aspergers syndrome and was subsequently extremely smart although a bit antisocial and obsessive. She was dux of her primary school and during intermediate acquired a lot of awards. By high school she was ahead four years, but had to leave halfway through her first year because she was sick. She spent this time administrating and programming three different MUDs, chatting, drawing pictures in Photoshop, making websites and playing Final Fantasy (she was in charge of the FF9 section of the Final Fantasy Freeks website for a while).

She was also a HUGE fan of Delta Goodrem and had an amazing collection of pictures, clippings, memorabilia and every CD release. She worked making websites for people in return for Delta items from eBay as payment.

She had a lot of qualifications, even getting enrolled in a University diploma when she was 14, but there are way too many for me to list them all here. She just had a lot of certificates and awards etc, mostly math/science/computer related.

She practically grew up in a theatre and was infatuated by stage musicals, especially those by Andrew Lloyd Webber. I think she knew the entire score, word-for-word, of Phantom of the Opera by the time she was like 3 or something. One of her many, many dreams was to make "Cats on Ice".

She loved Disney movies, especially their soundtracks, and her favourite movies were The Lion King and The Little Mermaid. She also liked a huge range of music, since she played Piano, Violin, Trumpet, Clarinet and Saxophone. She also did drama, dance, figure skating, and singing, but unfortunately lost her voice due to an emergency intubation.

Her Illness
In mid-2001, after several weeks of constant headache and random blacking out, she spontaneously collapsed at school and was taken to the emergency room, where she was immediately scheduled for an emergency appendectomy (for reasons unknown).

The medical students performing this surgery screwed up somehow and for months afterwards doctors put all of Nornina's ongoing symptoms down to the problems from the operation. It wasn't until September a private doctor thought maybe there was something else going on and took a look, to find that it had spread right throughout her entire abdomen and also in her brain. She had an ovary and half her uterus removed and continued having many, many operations and ongoing treatment for the next five years.

She left the Creatures Community before the pressure on her brain etc had majorly affected her, but as the part of the brain responsible for memory was getting the most damage she probably forgot all about it so if she never contacted you, don't take it personally.

She was an enormous fan of Delta Goodrem and in 2005 decided she would make it to her concert in Australia even if it was the last thing she did. Earlier in the year her inner ear had literally exploded, so to fly to Australia required some pretty amazing surgery using bits from her hand to reconstruct her inner ear. The trip took a lot out of her and she went into hospice soon after.

She was the subject of many medical breakthroughs over the last few years, participating in trials and often being the "first ever" for a lot of groundbreaking procedures new to New Zealand.

In late 05/early 06 her liver failed, and not recieving a transplant, eventually fell into a coma in early 06.

On April 5th, so-called "important" parts of her brain were declared no longer functional and unlikely to recover.

I've just written about the Arjay I knew in real life, all the computer/creatures stuff I've learnt from other peoples accounts, backed up files, and old journal/sketchbook entries. I didn't know the Nornina that you guys did, so please edit this page.

nornina (Also known as Arjay, rj, The Great Nornina, tgn) was a member of the Creatures Community starting in 1999. She was often present in JRChat, although she eventually stopped appearing due to illness. She also was an occasional visitor to Sine.
