Nicely Crafted Entertainment (aka NiCE) was formed by Toby Simpson and Ben Simpson on 13 February 2001 (see history). Nicely Crafted Entertainment (aka NiCE) was formed by Toby Simpson and Ben Simpson on 13 February 2001 (see history). They were joined by ex-Cyberlife employees Mark Ashton and Robert Dickson in late 2002. Their first game, Time of Defiance, was released in late 2002, and they had 10 employees by August 2003. Unfortunately Time of Defiance was about as original in gaming terms as a transvestite attending the rocky horror show with a pack of KitKats, so it had to compete with a multitude of other titles with the same USP and as such became a bit of a money pit for the company. Then Picaroon was launched but god only knows what they could have been thinking when they came up with that concept?
