Creatures 1

The original Creatures game was released for both Windows and the Macintosh, but the port was of a low quality and suffered from many bugs.

It should be noted that the game does not run on modern Mac machines - it only works on a Power Macintosh running System 7 or Mac OS 8. This means it will NOT run in Mac OS X's 'Classic' mode, which runs Mac OS 9, or on most Mac emulators. For further discussion on OS compatibility and emulation see the Creatures 1 talk page.

System Requirements

  • PowerMac
  • System 7.5 to 8.1
  • Double Speed CD-ROM (300k/sec)
  • 256 Colours @640x480
  • 8MB RAM with 8MB Virtual Memory (16MB without Virtual Memory)
  • 35MB of hard drive space

Mac Compatibility with Windows files

Creatures 2

An in-house port of Creatures 2 was started by Cyberlife Technology, but never completed.

Creatures Exodus and Creatures Village

The Mac rights to Creatures 3 were bought by Cognition Games in early 2003, a month before Creature Labs went into liquidation. It was ported to Mac OS X by Broadsword Interactive but due to the port overrunning and lack of money it did not get completed.

At the start of 2005, Kutoka Interactive offered to complete the port and distribute the title in North America, which was re-branded Creatures Exodus, and additionally port Creatures Village to the Mac too. This deal was announced on 19 May 2005 at E3 (more info).

Mac Requirements

  • PowerPC: G3 (900MHz), G4 (700Mhz), G5
  • OS X 10.2, 10.3, 10.4
  • 12 Speed CD-ROM
  • 800x600 Minimum Resolution
  • Standard Macintosh Sound
  • 128MB RAM
  • 600MB of hard drive space

Purchasing

The titles are now available for ordering online (French Canada, North America) and in retail stores beginning from the 30th of September 2005. The Mac OS X port of Docking Station is available within Creatures Exodus, but it is not yet known if it will be made available for free download like its Windows and Linux counterparts.
