Light is a property of rooms in Creatures 2 and a cellular automata in Creatures 3/Docking Station. It may be used by plant agents to determine if they can grow, and a few breeds have been developed that use light for photosynthesis.
In Creatures 2, surface and atmosphere rooms have their light level adjusted by the season and time of day. The Spinnomosa and Spikeocausius both require a high light level to grow.
