Like the source lobe, the general sense lobe helps a creature sense its environment. The general sense lobe makes a creature sense what is happening around it and what has happened to it, like being slapped, wallbonking or being near a norn of the opposite sex. The lobe gets some direct input from the engine and the rest from stimulus genes, which can specify how much they want to modulate a certain sensory neuron.

Related CAOS Commands
The following CAOS command directly stimulate some neurons in the general sense lobe in C1 and C2:
- STIM SHOU - CAOS command which sends a stimulus to all creatures within earshot of an object.
- STIM SIGN - CAOS command which sends a stimulus to all creatures who can see an object.
- STIM TACT - CAOS command which sends a stimulus to all creatures who are touching an object.
- STIM WRIT - CAOS command which sends a stimulus to all creatures who are using an object.
