I would think that there would be a way to block users via IP address if nothing else. The admins or at least mods should be able to utilize something of that nature to block trolls and keep them reigned in.

Ok, this spamming thing is getting out of hand! Would it be possible to stop people from editing pages unless they're a registered user? THAT would at least make the individuals work for their spamming. But then agian Gameware forums is have the same problem and they require a registration! Anyway, anyone else have any suggestions to the problem? Silvak 03:59, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Sometimes you just have to deal with tenacious trolls that have a personal vendetta. Blocking all anon users is not something that we as non-Wikia-admins have the power to do, and I am not sure it is something we'd really want to do, given that many anons have contributed good things here. The thing is, the vandalism is easy to fix, and eventually he will get bored (or we will work out a way to make him stay away permanently). :) ElasticMuffin 05:12, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
There is an extension that does this, Special:Protectsite. It is enabled on WikiFur but has generally not been used because it is possible to deal with individual anonymous trolls by reverting and blocking them. As EM says, they get bored eventually. --GreenReaper(talk) 06:38, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Thank you both! So it's sitting and waiting out the seige is it? I shall do my best Commanders!! The main purpose I wanted to have this thread(?), was to see if we had any other options and why we might or might not want to implement them. Thank you for explaining that to me! BACK TO THE BATTLEMENTS!!!!!!! Silvak 16:26, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Regardless of what you may believe, there are actually *other* trolls on the internet. However, since you are the one that insists on repeatedly claiming responsibility (as well as making threats about further vandalism in the future) I have taken the precaution of disabling your editing privileges again for a while. I hope that someday you will learn that being constructive and helping build things up is a far superior idea to spending your day whining, flaming, and spamming.
