ElasticMuffin's ubiquitous avatar.

ElasticMuffin (originally known in the community as MysticEttin) is a part-time wiki user, random website developer, and hacker in a select few computer languages.

Community Involvement

He received a copy of Creatures 1 in 1997 (when it still came in the original box!) and soon after got involved in the CC. He owned a Creatures website known as Mystic Ettin's Creatures Forest (MECF) which, after existing in various forms over a period of roughly 5 years, at a variety of different free web hosts, died off in late 2001 (or early 2002, possibly). Up until recently, has been largely quiet in the community with occasional brief reappearances, including his (failed) attempt at a community-based website, EemNet, and a concept for a unified Creatures content database, CCNet, which never materialized due to copyright concerns and technical problems. Otherwise, he is an active regular of Sine (where he manages most of the technical stuff) and is occasionally found lurking around the major community forums and, much more rarely, JRChat.

History of the Name

The name 'ElasticMuffin' came about by an unusual series of events one quiet Saturday morning in JRChat, the date of which has been forgotten (but sometime before 2001). Suffice it to say that the name is a twisted form of MysticEttin for which Leonard and Sent are primarily responsible. After these events, ElasticMuffin made several cameo appearances in JRChat under the new name (He has since changed over to it permanently; 'MysticEttin' has not been used since MECF's closing).

Current Projects

  • The Creature Repository - A new website designed for the sole purpose of making as many Creatures as possible available in a searchable index. He is currently busy rewriting most of this site in hopes of an actual launch.
  • HaverNet - A program for using the Haver chat protocol. Not Creatures-related.
  • openc2e - Designed and is helping to maintain the new website, and also helps test new features and tells fuzzie about bugs.

More information might be found (but probably not ;) at his personal website, diagonalfish.net. See also his LiveJournal].
