Editnorn.png This page contains a proposed guideline on the Creatures Wiki.
It is currently up for discussion as to its merit before being made official.

  • Title: Future Projects Policy
  • Summary: Policy on pages about future projects on the Cwiki.
  • Proposed: Malkin 23:44, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Rationale

Recently, there have been a number of articles related to future projects added to the creatures wiki. Often these projects are only very hypothetical, and die before any actual content is developed.

Guideline

Future projects articles on the creatures wiki must adhere to the following criteria:

  • Ideas on the Creatures Wiki:Development ideas page should only get their own articles when someone actually takes them up. Descriptions there should be enough to get a potential developer interested in the addon idea. You can leave an email, or sign your post, if you think someone will need further information. (eg. Belgian Blue Norns - proposed by Malkin)
  • The article must be written in an encyclopedic style.
  • Use the {{futureproject}} template.
  • Link to any forum threads or webpages that are related to your idea.
  • Don't make the article to tease us - forums can be used to seek support and additional assistance from the CC instead. If your project is extremely secret, don't make a page!
  • A certain level of practical commitment to the project must be demonstrated - for example, financial backing (Simbiosis), concept art (Spot Norns), or CAOS coding experience. Something more tangible than a backstory.

Open questions

  • What exactly is a "certain level of commitment"?
I'd say it would be when a person reading the article can be reasonably sure that the project won't die. - Malkin 03:27, 23 July 2006 (UTC) Or, perhaps it should be 'a certain level of practical commitment', meaning that the person with the idea for it can actually contribute at a practical level (coding, graphics, genetics, and so on). - Malkin 04:53, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Discussion

The above guideline may be discussed in the space below. When a consensus is reached, the guideline will be either rejected or put into effect.

I wholeheartedly support this. I corrected the template link. :) (it's just {{futureproject}}) ElasticMuffin 02:06, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Me too. </AOL> Fuzzie 02:08, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Agreed. I support this as well. MonaLS 02:51, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Also agreeding that there needs to be a practical level of commitment to the project. MonaLS 25 July 2006

Fourth'ded. - Liam

Fifthed. Great idea, Malkin; I think this is (unfortunately) fully necessary. --Officer 1BDI 22:07, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

I concur with the second idea for 'level of commitment'. The person should be able to do more the project than write a story. Graphics, code, *something*. Not just a story, which anyone can come up with in 5 minutes. Change that and I think it's ready to be official. Anyone against? ElasticMuffin 14:30, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
