Creatures Family was a new game in the Creatures series to be developed by Spil Games. It was intended to be the successor to Creatures Online as a free-to-play mobile game targeting an audience of 20+ years old. Fans were directed to the Creatures Online Facebook Page for future announcements. At some point prior to August 2019 the game was quietly cancelled due to "technical reasons".

Creatures Community Reaction

Since its announcement Creatures Family has attracted a wide array of criticism from across the Creatures Community, given Spil Games' background of simple web-based flash games. It has also been recently debated as to whether the game will come out at all, as the series of teaser games planned for Summer 2016 were never released, and no further information was released about the game since Spil Games acquired it in March 2016.

In February 2017, the webmaster of Creatures Caves, Rascii, reached out to Spil Games, inquiring about the game's progress. Spil Games replied that there was no news on the project, but assured him that the project had not been cancelled.

In July 2017, Spil Games released a mini-game, entitled Creatures Alchemist, where players were tasked with combining elements to create new norn breeds. No more mini-games have been released since.

Cancellation

Spil originally announced they were aiming to release Creatures Family in 2017. However, it never came out, and there was no news released. In March 2018, when contacted via Facebook, Spil Games later confirmed that the game's release had been delayed with no confirmation of a release date. In August 2019 Spil Games stated via email that the game was "no longer in [their] portfolio", and later confirmed in June 2020 that the game is "no longer in development for technical reasons".
