The '''C1 Boney Grendels''' are a breed of [[Grendel]] designed for [[Creatures 1]] by [[Slaterbait]] using [[sprite]]s from [[Lis Morris]]'s C2 [[Boney Grendel]]s. They occupy grendel [[breed slot]] 8.

They are currently unavailable on the web, however their home was once [[The Mechan Saga]].
211.30.46.81https://creatures.wiki/index.php?title=Winter_Blue_Albia&diff=24383Winter Blue Albia2005-05-16T11:46:17Z
211.30.46.81:

==Dragonfly (''Flitus bhomicus'')==
[[Image:c3dragonfly.png|right]]The '''Dragonfly''' is a large insect found in both the Norn and Jungle terrariums. In the Norn Terrarium, it lays its eggs without a problem - in the Jungle, however, the only pond has no plant for the nymphs to climb out on! It's recommended that one put a [[plant]] [[agent]] in the pond (the [[Chili Pepper]]s from the [[Hardman Norn]] pack work nicely if you have them), or move them to the Norn Terrarium. Adult dragonflies eat nothing, but the nymphs require plant leaves as shown above.

There was a [[Dragonfly (C1)|Dragonfly COB]] made for [[Creatures 1]] by [[Slink]]. The [[wikipedia:dragonfly|dragonfly]] is also a real terran insect.
==Bramboo==
The protein-rich berries growing on the tall '''Bramboo''' stalks make sweet and nutritious snacks for [[Norn]]s - if they can reach them! The bramboo stalks themselves thrive in hot, wet environments, and so the lower, rainforest-like level of the Norn Meso is a perfect home for them - however, they are very adaptable and will also grow in most areas of [[Creatures 3]], even the [[Desert Terrarium]]!

The colouration of bramboo berries mutates over generations, which can make for a very colourful (or drab) Norn Meso.

If you dislike the colouration of the successful bramboo berries, you can get the [[Growing Bramboo Vendor]] which dispenses fertile bramboo berries in all possible colours.

Taken from the Gameware development forum (posted by Danikat):

"Overall, yes [[norn]]s can learn on their own. Whilst telling them to do things will shorten the process (by making them focus on constructive actions) and rewarding/punishing them will increase the reinforcement the direct reinforcement from the action (like not feeling so hungry becuase you ate something) will do the job.

It is possible to selectively breed norns for intelligence, I'm pretty sure brain structure is one of the things passed on from parents to children, so if you breed two norns who are quite intelligent (show a lot of good desisions and avoid things like 'eat elevator') their children should show the same capability, although they will still go through some experimentation and need to learn for themselves.

A few years ago I invented a trick I called the creatures IQ test, which is basically a form of [[wolfling run]] designed to select for intelligent norns, as well as selecting against 'harmful' mutations, like norns who do nothing but breed or ones unable to walk.

Basically the norns begin in the bottom of the [[workshop]]. There is no food or toys in the workshop, comms room or corridor, so they have to find their way into the meso in order to survive.
The idea behind it being that intelligent norns, ones capable of taking care of themselves, will realise that they're hungry and go in search of food, ending up in the meso.
Unintelligent ones will still feel hungry but won't do anything about it, so they stay in the workshop until they starve or I remove them.

Ive had a lot of success with it over time and I have noticed an improvement in their progress over successive generations (with occasional, frustrating throwbacks).
Its also produced some interesting side effects, like favouring norns who go left more than right."
211.30.46.81https://creatures.wiki/index.php?title=Purple_Mountain_Hootch&diff=8960Purple Mountain Hootch2005-05-14T04:44:31Z
211.30.46.81:

Coffee is available in [[Creatures]] to warm chilled [[norns]].
A '''feral run''' is where you hatch a group of [[norn]]s, teach them words and a few other things (like [[food]] and [[herb]]s being good and [[weed]]s being bad), [[inject]] any [[COB]]s or [[Agent]]s into [[Albia]] or the [[Ark]], and leave them to grow up for a while, interfering when you like. This means that Feral runs are easier than [[wolfling run]]s.
[[Rowena]] considered the term "wolfling run" to belong to members of the US [[Early Adoption Program]] - however, it has fallen into more general usage.
Alternatively, [[Denise Voskuil]] believes that:
''The first mention that I have found was in a post on May 24, 1997 from "Magic Hacker" in response to a post by "[[Aznin]]" which was not archived by Deja News. The title of thread was "Wolfling norns". Aznin asked if anyone had let the norns just do what they want after hatching. It appears to be the first mention on a.g.c of what we now call wolfling runs. [[Magic Hacker]] reported that he or she had done one, but the offspring did not seem intelligent.''

''In a post from September 18, 1998 (subject: "Attention helpful experts....What is....."), Aznin describes the inspiration for the term, saying, "The term wolfling derives from science fiction, more precisely from the Uplift novels by David Brin - where humans are wolflings."'' from [[The Truth About Grendels]]
*Annie - A norn who is very curious and likes to draw. She was selected by the Hand to take part in an experiment to see how a norn from her game could live in the [[Creatures 1]] [[Albia]]. *Chris the Hand Norn - A norn who cares for the welfare of other norns and is in love with Annie, facts that he tries to keep secret because he believes these emotions make him a mutant and thus be killed because of it.

[[Image:Loci.jpg|frame|left|]]Creatures '''Project Loci''' was a Creatures concept for the PS2, GameCube and Xbox developed by [[Creature Labs]]. As appropriate to the platform, the game was aimed more towards third-person adventuring and puzzle solving, providing much the same sort of experience as the [[Secret Adventure Mode]] present in the rest of the [[Creatures series]]. The agent-oriented environment remained, allowing [[Creature Labs]] to leverage its investment in agent technology. Unfortunately the project never found a publisher to fund further development, although [[Gameware]] has indicated that it is an option if one can be found. [[Project Loci]] was set on a world named [[Cruthiar]].
'''Sphericus''' (or '''Cruthiar''') is the name of the three-dimensional planet that the [[Shee]] relocated to after their exodus from [[Albia]]. The [[Shee Ark]] is rotating around Sphericus, and in the final chapter of the [[Lone Shee]] chronicle, was attacked by the [[Banshee]].
It is believed to be planned as the location of a possible Creatures 4/Creatures 3D, but this has yet to be confirmed.
It is not to be confused with the three dimensional world of [[Project Loci]], although Sphericus may be renamed '''Cruthiar'''.
Ooh heck - in most of the pages that I can see the text is being partially hidden under the Creatures Wiki logo and the navigation bar and everything that's underneath it.. help, please? - Malkin
This was a temporary problem caused by trying to hide some of the ads. You'll notice that not all pages have ads now. However, it hasn't yet been possible to expand the wdith of the page so that it can be wider when there is no ad, so you'll see a white gap on the right instead. Now if only I knew when the next Budget Day was... [[Trish]]'s words are so true, don't you find? - [[User:Malkin|Malkin]]

Pssht... I think we need metaroom categories by game - even though the term didn't come in until C3/DS, 'metarooms' were developed for C1 and 2 - Cloud 9, for instance. They're darned annoying to classify atm - "Places" doesn't really cut it, to my mind. - M.

Thanks a lot. I will try to remember those changes when I do the C2 Wingy page here. Unfortunately, yesterday you linked the Gargoyles for C2 and C3 to the same page and I had to get this "repaired".*gg* Sorry for that, but I think your solution with the C2 and C3 in parenthesis is the better (and more consistent) one. ;-) And thanks for the flowers. *gg* So many people tell me, they like the C2 Gargoyles better than the C3. Actually, I still prefer the C3 breed, but of course, I'm more than glad, that you (and others) like the C2 Gargls. :-)
:Hehe, yep, I think I'd not had enough sleep the night before yesterday, I forgot the existing method of splitting them up! And as for the C2 norns, I've often found people have a preference for the older breeds - I guess they like the more hand-drawn look to it. Either that or they have fond memories of trying to get their [[Hebe Norn]]s to eat cheese. ;-) --[[User:GreenReaper|GreenReaper]]([{{SERVER}}{{localurle:User talk:GreenReaper|action=edit&section=new}} talk])
::*hehehe* Oh, and btw, thanks for editing my contributions. All those silly, silly links I keep forgetting to insert... ;-/ and of course for correcting my lousy English.:-D
:::No problem, [[User:Alien|Alien]] - It's actually pretty good (believe me, I've seen it all. And as for the links, most of them are just things people will have visited already - but I figure it's good to have them there so the search engines know what is related to what. ;-)

== Thanks... ==

...for the welcome. I'm completely at sea here, not sure how to reply to messages properly... I hit the "talk" link, and it seems I'm editing a page. It's going to take me quite a while to get used to this Wiki thing. Also, the article I wrote didn't seem to go, but I see you must have read it on account of you noted something I said in it. I shall proceed towards total confusion, which is close to my natural state of confusion :-) Was surprised that anyone wanted to know about my small part in the CC because I recall myself as being quite peripheral to the main body once JRChat got under way!

Cheers

When I hit "recent changes" 10 minutes or so after uploading files or creating new ones it always looks like you have to sweep the floor after me. Hope you don't mind, 'case usually I have no clue what I forgot to do this time. *gg* btw: is it possible to create a new page for the [[Valentine Norn]]s? I already uploaded the pictures, but they aren't linked yet, 'cause also the author (Stef) doesn't show up anywhere and if I have to do this, I can only mention it in the article of [[Mummy's Creatures]] (which is still a stub and I might feel like changing it a bit....I might...) [[User:Alien|Alien]]

:Well, with the sweeping I was adding <nowiki>[[Category:Breed images]]</nowiki> to the Image: pages so that they would show up in [[:Category:Breed images]]. And yes, you figured out how to make a new page, or just type it into the URL box. :-)

::rofl* Well, I don't know how many norns make up a ton. *lol* Anyway, if you know a better word that describes the same amount of norns, Mummy has on her site (I once tried to count them and ended up with can't remember how many hundred), feel free to change it. *hehehe* I thought, people would get the picture with that "tons of norns". *ggg* Anyway, that list is only (from my point of view) considered being a "brainstorm", just to make sure I (or someone else) won't forget to mention anything concerning the content of her site. Mummy's a bit shy and thinks, her English is even more crap then mine is so she might be a bit reluctant in contributing to this wiki, probably. Okay, without [http://dict.leo.org LEO] I wouldn't stand a chance myself... [[User:Alien|Alien]]

:::That's a neat site, I'll have to remember it . . . brainstorming is fine, I've done a few articles like that myself. And yes, a ton of norns is very graphic. *grin*
:::As for Mummy's english, maybe she is not the best at it (just as I am not a good artist!), but as long as the meaning can be understood then the wording can be changed by people who know the language better. All that matters is that the meaning is there. But hey, it's her choice. :-) ----GreenReaper 19:39, 11 Feb 2005 (GMT)
== User:Talk Template ==

GreenReaper ...

Your sig [[User:GreenReaper|GreenReaper]]([{{SERVER}}{{localurle:User talk:GreenReaper|action=edit&section=new}} talk]) caught my eye and I played with it a bit ... altering it to a simple link to User and User:Talk instead of the edit. I like it but have to use copy/paste each time I want to use it and I wanted something I could remember and that others could also use. So thought an additional template might work. Came up with one ... which surprised me as I hadn't a clue as to how to go about it. ;)

Using yours as a starting point, I created this: [[Template:UT]]
(did the same here at Creatures as I don't know how to make other than a local template)

Now using '''<nowiki>{{UT|-ts-}}</nowiki>''' results in: {{UT|-ts-}} and it is good for any user. '''<nowiki>{{UT|GreenReaper}}</nowiki>''' giving: {{UT|GreenReaper}}

I am certain you can improve and simplify this ... and perhaps know of a way to alter it so it links back to one's Home Wikicity from anywhere. And of course with and edit function and even perhaps one with a time stamp.

And thanks for cleaning up the link to Creatures from Peace ASQ. ;)

I see you have many other flash things and codes ... thought I noticed a creature mouse pointer at some point ... and look forward to seeing how you do these things.

this is how I learn ... hands on ... checking our how others code and playing with it.

thanks. {{UT|-ts-}}

:Ahh . . . yes, I had that set as a Raw Signature (which is a new Preferences option in the most recent versions of MediaWiki. But you have a nice way of doing it, which works well in combination with this . . . you can set the template, and then use the template as your raw signature - I now have this as my signature, which works very well and uses the standard ~ signature marks: <nowiki>--{{UT|GreenReaper}}</nowiki>

:Thanks! --{{UT|GreenReaper}} 18:48, 15 Feb 2005 (GMT)

::Well, you have lost me. ;)
::I am a novice at this and missing something.
::I don't see how you have gotten the time sig without altering the Template.
::And I'm afraid I don't know what you refer to as Raw Signature. ;)
::{{UT|-ts-}} aka -ts_idiot- ;)

:::The normal way of typing signatures is to type <nowiki>~~~</nowiki>, or <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki> if you want the time and date added at the end. To preserve this while using your template, go into your Preferences at the top right and put this as the Raw Signature (and tick the box): --{{UT|-ts-}}
:::You should then be able to type just <nowiki>~~~</nowiki> or <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki> and it will put your template signature. --{{UT|GreenReaper}} 20:19, 15 Feb 2005 (GMT)

Excellent! i notice that the Template is still needed in every Wikicity ...

and that the links go to my User and User_talk page on THAT wiki.

That's ok ... but i wonder if there is a way to get them all to default to my main User and User talk page at Peace Wiki?

also ... is there such a thing as a Universal Template that could be accessed regardless of which Wikicity one is at?

what think ye?

anyway ... thanks for the original insiration and the help sorting it out. {{UT|-ts-}} 23:07, 15 Feb 2005 (GMT)

:As far as I know, they're working on a common sign-on across all wikis, but it's not happened yet. --{{UT|GreenReaper}} 23:08, 15 Feb 2005 (GMT)
== Google search box ==

Hi, I am an amateur Wiki developer using MediaWiki software. I was reviewing the public sites that use MediaWiki and found this site really interesting. Can you tell me how to include a Google search box like you have displayed? What files do I need to edit and what code do I need to include?

I assumed this was relatively straightforward to code, but if its not then just ignore me because I don't want to torture you with work you don't have to do.

Your help would be really appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Alison

:Hi there, Alison! To make the google search box, I just copied an existing search box thing for wikipedia. You could do the same - just download the one for this website, and then look in your Firefox/Mozilla searchplugins folder for the creatureswiki.png and .src files. Change the PNG as you desire (except that you should keep it the same size) and then edit the .src file to change the SEARCH action and SearchForm as appropriate to get the same pages on your website as they do on ours. You should also change the browser locations to appropriate ones for your site - in this way you can keep the search plugin updated if it needs changing. Hope this helps! --{{UT|GreenReaper}} 17:38, 9 Mar 2005 (GMT)
I was updating a wiki page and started out well, but eventually I started making the mistake of saving after every edit instead of previewing until I had the changes I wanted. So, I apologize for cluttering your change log. This was my first ever wiki edit, so forgive my noobie-ness. It won't happen again.

The '''Ocean Expansion Pack''' allows you to [[inject]] one of two [[cob]]s which add new [[room]]s and [[object]]s to the dark blue [[ocean]]. There are two parts to this cob: The first allows you to inject water-filled rooms for your aquatic norns (ie. [[MerNorn]]s), and the second allows you to inject air-filled rooms that any norn can use. Besides this there are no real differences between the two cobs.
The Ocean Expansion Pack was made by [[Helen]] and can be [http://www.helephant.com/creatures/index.php found] at [[Helen's Bibble Directory]]. An updated version of the [[Bubble Gun]] provided in this pack is available separately.
==Do you hear the Ettins sing?==
''by [[Hrairah]], To the tune of [http://www.niehs.nih.gov/kids/lyrics/peopsing.htm Do you Hear the People Sing?] from '' Les Miserables '''

Do you hear the Ettins sing?
Sing of the joy of all badplants,
It is the music of a creature
Who has had, for lunch, some ants
When the failing of your life,
Equals the melting of your bones,
You are quite sure to die tres quickly
When left alone!

Will you join in our death march
Right to the ocean, big and blue,
It's devoid of oxygen
And that should kill off quite a few
We're all suicidal and we shall now prove it to you!

Do you hear the Ettins sing?
Sing of the joy of all badplants,
It is the music of a creature
Who has had, for lunch, some ants
When the failing of your life,
Equals the melting of your bones,
You are quite sure to die tres quickly
When left alone!

It's our quest as C2 Norns to croak
As quickly as can be,
There are hazards everywhere,
Will you go find 'em all with me?
The poisons and drownings are truly the life of the free!

Do you hear the Ettins sing?
Sing of the joy of all badplants,
==Creature's Paradise==
''To the tune of Gangsta Paradise, by [[GreenReaper]]''

As I walk through the valley with my best friend, Beth,
I take a look at her face and think of nothing but sex.
'Cause I've been kissing and popping so long,
That even my friends thinks that my mind is gone.

But I ain't never pushed a naven even if they deserved it.
A creature with a clue? You know that's unheard of.
You better watch how you're talking,
And where you're walking,
Or you and your egg-mates might vanish in smoke.

I really hate the hand but I gotta go.
Either that or I get slapped (which is no fun at all).
Fool! I'm the kinda norn the mighty Shee want us to be like:
Eating cheese day and night, serving tea in the afterlife!

We've been spending most our lives,
Living in a Creatures paridise.
We're just sleeping half the night,
Living in a Creatures paridise
It's all cheese and fancy lights,
Living in a Creatures paridise.
There's no grendels, hate or fights,
Living in a Creatures paridise.

Look at the situation, they've got me facing,
I can't live with no more slaps,
I was raised by the hand,
So I've gotta be down with the gene team.
Too much hooch-cup pushing got me chasing cheese.

I'm an educated norn with food on my mind,
Got a carrot in my hand and a meme in my mind,
I'm a low down herbivore with OHSS,
And the kleptomanic ettins keep stealing my casettes!

Fool! Death ain't more than a tick or two away,
And yet we still act like we'll live all day!
I'm six hours old but will I live to see seven?
The way things are coded, I don't know.

Tell me why are we
(So stupidly)
Walking off the cliffs
And into trees?
Weed after weed,
Flower after flower,
Minute after minute,
Hour after hour,

Everybody's running,
But I have to push this ettin,
'Cause he took my favourite toy!
I leave him with a beating!

They say I've got to learn,
But nobody's here to teach me!
I push this silly button,
I still can't say "don't eat me!"

I guess I can't.
I guess I won't.
I guess I'm dumb,
That's why I know my user's givin' up, fool!
==All The World's A Game==
''Derived from Act II, Scene vii, lines 142-169 of As You Like It, by [[GreenReaper]]''

All the world's a game,
And all the norns and grendels merely creatures:
They have their birth events and their death events;
And one norn in her time plays many parts.
Her act being seven stages. At first the baby,
Rocking and cracking on the birthing hot-plate.
Yearning for the light of life.
And then the curious norn-child, bright-eyed
And hungry, devouring cheese without a pause;
Save to bounce the ball. Then the adolescent,
Kissing and pulling, running and hiding,
Exploring and learning, laughing and wailing;
Extending her bounds. And then the youth,
Touching and fleeing, giggling at a push;
Pursued, caught, and kiss-popped at last.
Seeking the egg's immortality
Even o'er the piranah pool. Then the adult,
Burdened with children, laying and playing,
And laying again. Crafty in battle,
Beloved of the hand. The sixth stage warps
Into the graying and old-age'd norn,
With uneven gait and failing organs
Her youghful hair, a faded mop
Atop her bowed head; and her musical voice
Now cracking and failed. Last stage of all,
That ends this tortured fearful parody,
Is second egg-hood and mere senelity.
Sans fur, sans cheese, sans life, sans everything.

The [[Creatures series]] of games has had a long and convoluted history. This page is dedicated to it, in particular the events surrounding the companies involved in their production: [[Millennium]], [[Cyberlife]], [[Creature Labs]], [[Entraline]] and [[Gameware]].

A good overview (albeit with a few unsurprising omissions) is provided in:
* [http://www.gamewaredevelopment.co.uk/creatures_more.php?id=17_0_6_0_M8 A potted history of Creature Labs and Gameware Development (the official story)].

Large amounts of this timeline were derived from [http://fp.cyberlifersrch.plus.com/creaturesarchive/creatures_history.htm Steve Grand's notes]. Many thanks to [[Steve Grand|Steve]] for providing this resource to the community!
==Timeline of Events==
''Don't hesitate to fill stuff in - and don't feel you have to restrict yourself to official doings, axnything that has interest to the community is fine :-)''

===Pre-1992===
*'''Late 1986/Early 1987''': [[Steve Grand]] is inspired by his reading of ''The Planiverse: Computer Contact With a Two-Dimensional World'' ([http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0387989161/ Amazon UK], [http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0387989161/ Amazon US]; at time of writing, probably a lot cheaper to buy from the US!) and suggests [[Creatures]] to his employers as an educational game - but there is no interest
*'''1988''': [[Steve Grand]] suggests [[Creatures]] to the new startup, [[Millennium]] - again, to little interest
*'''1990''': [[Millennium]] release Hoverforce, Horror Zombies from the Crypt and Thunderstrike
*'''1991''': [[Millennium]] release Virtual Reality, Volume 2, Stormball, The Adventures of Robin Hood and James Pond 2: Codename: RoboCod (which makes a return 12 years later as [[James Pond: RoboCod]])
===1992===
*'''1992''': [[Millennium]] release Cyber Empires, The Aquatic Games, Daughter of Serpents and Rome AD 92
*'''September 1992''': [[Creatures]] is 'officially' concieved, although it will take years to develop fully into the game we know today. From [[Tips.txt]]:
:''The initial ideas for this project were conceived on a motel balcony in Winthrop, WA, USA in September 1992.''
*'''4 November 1992''': [[Steve Grand]] writes [http://fp.cyberlifersrch.plus.com/creaturesarchive/initialpitch.htm A Mouse for Windows]
*'''16 November 1992''': [[Steve Grand]] writes [http://fp.cyberlifersrch.plus.com/creaturesarchive/ewokspitch.htm Little Computer Ewoks]
*'''23 December 1992''': [[Steve Grand]] writes [http://fp.cyberlifersrch.plus.com/creaturesarchive/techproposal.htm Ewoks techie bit for proposal]
===1993===
*'''1993''': [[Millennium]] release James Pond 3: Operation Starfish
*'''8 March 1993''': [[Steve Grand]] writes [http://fp.cyberlifersrch.plus.com/creaturesarchive/mythography.htm Small Furry Creatures: A Mythography] (first use of [[Small Furry Creatures]] as title), which contains the first details of the [[Journey]], [[Grendel]]s (although not as we know them today), [[Ettin]]s (even dumber than they turned out) and the [[Shee]] (Siðe)
*'''1 June 1993''': First available notes from [[Steve Grand|Steve Grand's]] [http://fp.cyberlifersrch.plus.com/creaturesarchive/progdiary.htm programming diary] - very interesting reading
*'''18 July 1993''': [[Steve Grand]] writes the first fragments of a [[Creatures]]-themed novella, [[Wulf's Journey]], creating the first Creatures [[:Category:Fiction|fan-fiction]] over three years before the game was actually released
*'''12 December 1993''': [[Steve Grand]] explains that the mythology is [http://fp.cyberlifersrch.plus.com/creaturesarchive/rationale.htm intended for background purposes], not as an actual plotline:
:''I never intended Creatures to be an adventure game or have a fixed plot at all - the idea was that you would create your own stories . . . But everyone had interpreted my mythography stuff far too literally, and people were trying to make Creatures into some kind of Norse adventure game . . .''
:''[[User:GreenReaper|GreenReaper's]] thought: '''"Viking Creatures: Norns with Horns!"'''''

===1994===
*'''3 May - 10 May 1994''' A possible precursor to the [[Secret Adventure Mode]] is documented in [[Steve Grand]]'s programming diary.
*'''6 July 1994''': [[Michael Hayward]] decides that the game needs more time to mature and that [[Steve Grand]] should "take the game out of the schedule" (see the [http://fp.cyberlifersrch.plus.com/creaturesarchive/progdiary.htm diary entry])
:''[[User:GreenReaper|GreenReaper]]: I think this was a very important decision - without the extra time for correct positioning and reworking, [[Creatures]] would never have been the game it turned out to be. Heck, it was still for DOS back then, and [[bibble]] hadn't even been concieved! :-)''
:It is also interesting to note the features described as possible for the rewrite, many of which would not be fully realized until [[Creatures 3]] or [[Docking Station]]: ''Decided to add 5 months to schedule; more gratuitous graphics; more facial expressions; new norns (monkeylike); everybody’s norn is unique; complete rethink and rewrite of code; add hooks for extensions; allow norns to travel from one person’s system to another, via disc or modem; buy new norns; possible speech in/out.''
*'''1 August 1994''': The [[Cheat]] menu is added
*'''10 October 1994''': Plans for DDE support are finalized, laying the foundations for [[:Category:C1 Tools|external tools]] to communicate with [[Creatures]]
*'''14 November 1994''': [[Michael Hayward]] first demonstrates the [[Creatures]] prototype to '''Warner Interactive''', who liken its breadth of appeal to that of the first spreadsheet, Visicalc
*'''20 November 1994''': [[Cyberlife]] is set up to develop and exploit [[Steve Grand|Steve Grand's]] ideas

===1995===
*'''23 January 1995''': [[Steve Grand]] has the idea of making a [[background model]] of the [[Creatures]] environment and digitising it; [[Mark Rafter]] agrees a few days later, and begins work on the model
*'''Mid-1995''': [[Cyberlife]] agrees a publishing deal with '''Warner Interactive''' and a advance of £1m is paid representing an estimated 200,000 units of sales; in fact, over half a million copies of the [[Creatures]] will eventually be sold
*'''19 July 1995''': [[Creatures]] finally has a complete [http://fp.cyberlifersrch.plus.com/creaturesarchive/designdef.htm design definition] - as with most software development projects, it required actually building most of the program to fully define it . . .
===1996===
*'''10:50 am, 21 March 1996''': The first [[norn]] ever bred in captivity was born. He was called [[Cain]], son of [[Ron]] and [[Eve]].
*'''22 April 1996''': The twin spectres of [[disease]] and [[bacteria]] are introduced to [[Creatures]]
*'''November 1996''' The [[Cyberlife]] department has 10 people in it
*'''11 November 1996''': [[Creatures]] is released, selling 100,000 copies in the first month; its publishers - '''Warner Interactive''' - are quickly acquired by '''GT Interactive''', who become the new distributors
*'''December 1996''': [[Christmas Pack|Christmas Pack 1]] for [[Creatures]] is released - it has over 4000 downloads in the first week
*'''18 December 1996''': The "[[Norn]] 6-pack" is released: Buffy, Dion, Jarvis, Melvin, Sharla, and Teesha ([http://www.zen9361.zen.co.uk/keep/creatureswiki/sixpack.zip download])

A '''Breed''' is a type of [[Creature]] with its own unique [[sprite]]s in the [[Creatures series]] of games - either a [[norn]], [[ettin]] or [[grendel]]. Each breed takes up a [[breed slot]], so there can only be a finite number of breeds per game. There are both [[:Category:Official Breeds|official]] and [[:Category:Unofficial Breeds|unofficial]] breeds for each game, of varying quality - some are just [[sprite]] recolourings with standard [[genome]]s, while others are fully-fledged projects with new [[sprite]]s, [[genome]]s, accompanying [[COB]]s/[[agent]]s and even whole [[world]]s/[[metaroom]]s to host the breed.

''This edition of '''From the Creatures Wiki''' is planned for publication sometime this Saturday (GMT). Feel free to add recently modified stuff that you think is important/cool!''
----
There are now 1500 articles on the Creatures Wiki, accompanied by over 750 images! As for some other records, 200 is a popular number - we now have almost 200 [[:Category:C1 COBs|C1 COBs]], as well as just over that number of [[:Category:Breed images|breed images]], [[:Category:People|people]] and [[:Category:Websites|websites]]! I strongly recommend you have a look at some of the latter - there are many cool sites still out there to enjoy. The [[:Category:C1 Norn Breeds]] has now hit 20 breeds - quite astonishing when you consider that there are only 10 norn [[breed slot]]s!

Much of the recent work has been done by [[Don]] and [[Malkin]], who have each made over 500 edits to articles on the wiki. Of course, we shouldn't forget [[Sgeo]], [[Alien]] and [[Liam]], who have each made over 100 non-article edits (usually uploading images). Our newest member, Syrra, also deserves special mention for adding all the COBs and agents at [[Helen's Bibble Directory]]. In total, 12 of our 74 users have contributed over 100 edits to the Wiki, and half of them have double that. You can see everyone who's contributed at the [http://www.wikicities.com/wikistats/EN/TablesWikipediaCREATURES.htm#wikipedians statistics] page

We have also many [[interviews]]. One of the more interesting ones recently dug up by Malkin is this [http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=1039605 NPR radio interview] with [[Toby Simpson]], [[Richard Dawkins]] and others back in May 1997 - before [[Creatures]] was even released outside Europe. This links into the question of whether norns are alive, a question which was [http://groups-beta.google.com/group/alt.games.creatures/browse_frm/thread/fa64f71ac3135322/6c80cec0c5d7dfe5 posed] to [[alt.games.creatures]]
by [[Steve Grand]] himself, and which has [http://groups-beta.google.com/group/alt.games.creatures/browse_frm/thread/4122881e317d350d/db6a32ec0b4b89d7 recently been re-posed].

Now, time for a little fun and games! As you may be aware, people in the CC get bored quickly - just like norns! - and need regular doses of amusement. One of these, [[Acrophoboia]], proved most popular with regulars from [[JRChat]], [[Emy|one of whom]] had already achieved notoriety on alt.games.creatures with her creation of the [[Creatures Community Purity Test]] - a somewhat earlier counterpart to the [[What Creature are you (quiz)|What Creature are you?]] quiz!

Not daunted by the lack of a [[Secret Adventure Mode]] in [[Creatures 2]], [[jcarrcwalk]] went and made his own - [[Dragon Nornior]], also known as ''Project Erdrick''. If you've got C2, give it a go!

And now a word from our sponsor . . .

Green? Depressed? Norns getting you down? Why not wash away those sorrows with a refreshing [[Norn-Bru]]? After all, you can't live on [[hootch]] forever - we tried! Comes in three original breed flavours! Norn-Bru: It's the taste of a new generation!

Thist quenched? Good! If you're interested in more norn products, check out [http://groups-beta.google.com/group/alt.games.creatures/browse_frm/thread/582c00f0f9743174 this newsgroup thread]. :-)

Well, that's about all we have time for, but one last tid-bit - some Creature-lovers, fearing that the [[bibble]] of norns was being lost among the stars, joined the search for messages from outer space by forming a [[SETI@home]] team. Let's hope they find [[Sphericus]] one day!
211.30.46.81https://creatures.wiki/index.php?title=Category:C1_Norn_Breeds&diff=3472Category:C1 Norn Breeds2005-05-14T01:27:00Z
211.30.46.81:

Every object in the [[Creatures series|Creatures games]] is contained within a [[genus]]. [[Creature]]s cannot distinguish between, for example, the [[ball]], or the [[top]], because they are both in the [[toy]] genus.

The [[class number]] is the [[family]], [[genus]] and [[species]] written together: for example 2 6 65, which is the [[class number]] for the [[Breaded Hatchling Norn]]. See the list of known [[C1 class numbers]] for more examples.

The Family and Genus have a max of 255, anything over this will wrap over to 1 (Not 0, as this is used as a wildcard). In C3 and DS the Species has a max of 65535.
Apes are the dominant sentient life form, and wild human populations exist on the planet. One astronaut is separated from the others - he will find his destiny.

[[Image:Apple.jpg|frame|right|The Creatures 3 apple tree]]
The '''apple''' is a staple in the diet of any [[Creatures 3]] [[creature]] residing in the [[Norn Terrarium]]. They grow on the largest tree in the terrarium, and often fall to the ground below for hungry [[norn]]s to pick up.

Apples are high in [[protein]] - if your creature is complaining from a lack of this, it would be wise to feed it one . . . unless it's a [[Toxic Norn]], of course! Those are better suited to eating the leftover apple cores.

:''I should note that I've experienced a bug in Creatures 3, where if I pick the apples off the tree (instead of letting them fall) the apples stop growing for some reason - it may be just me, but I thought I would throw the precaution out there.'' --[[Gryph]]
Sphericus is the name of the three-dimensional planet that the [[Shee]] relocated to after their exodus from [[Albia]].
It is not to be confused with the three dimensional world of [[Project Loci]].

'''Spriglysium Nebula''' (known fondly by [[Miff]] simply as "Tree") was an add-on for [[Creatures 2]] that added new areas to [[Albia]] including an underwater cavern (which was suitable for water-breathing Norns and air-breathing Norns at the flick of a switch!), a large extension to the [[tree house]], and a room above the [[pyramids]]. It was created by [[Ali]] for [[Albia 2000]], where it can be downloaded.
