Noun lobe
The noun lobe is the lobe of a creature's brain which is used by the game engine to retrieve the noun identifier - as represented by the highest-firing neuron in the lobe - to be used to construct spoken sentences describing the current object the creature is fixated on. In the normal brain model, this is based on the highest-firing neuron in the decision lobe. The actual wording comes from non-brain-handled vocabulary learning.
It will also draw the norn's attention to a nearby object of that name when it hears the word, regardless of whether it is the hand that is speaking or another norn. [1]
The noun identifier is also used in instincts to allow creatures to dream of certain scenarios: be it a pleasant encounter with a chunk of food, or a scary run-in with a grendel!
