Steve Grand's robot, Lucy with norndoll Ron by Data

Lucy is an animatronic orangutan robot developed by Steve Grand. Possessing artificial intelligence, Lucy learns and programs herself from experience, "just like a child does."

The Lucy project is on hold as of the 28th of July 2005, pending more funds.

Interesting Facts

• Lucy possesses a norndoll called Ron made especially for her and Steve by Data, shown in the picture (courtesy of Data).

• Lucy (or more accurately, Lucy MkI) is the star of a book called Growing up with Lucy.

• Lucy was made as a physical robot because people complained that norns weren't real enough, being in a computer.

• Lucy can be seen in Grandroids.

• Lucy became an internet meme in late 2017/early 2018 through a series of gifs made from this this video.
